Being SMART at Quakers Hill High School

The philosophy of Quakers Hill High School is one that has developed from a foundation of high behavioural expectations for all members of our school community. Quakers Hill High School utilises school-wide systems of support that include proactive strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviours to create a positive school environment.

A continuum of positive behaviour support for all students within the school is implemented in areas including classroom and non-classroom settings. Positive behaviour support is an application of behaviourally-based systems approach to enhance the capacity of the school community to improve the environments in which teaching and learning occurs. Attention is focused on creating and sustaining systems of support that improve lifestyle results for all members of our school community by making:

  • efficient, relevant and desired behaviour more functional
  • problem behaviour less effective.

The purpose of a school-wide positive behaviour program at Quakers Hill High School is to establish a climate in which appropriate behaviour is the norm.

At Quakers Hill High School we are SMART:

Students who are safe:

  • Follow staff instructions
  • Move carefully and calmly around all areas of the school
  • Dress correctly for the specific purpose
  • Line up sensibly outside the classroom
  • Use all equipment appropriately
  • Notify staff of any concern
  • Stay in bounds
  • Keep the school free from drugs, alcohol and dangerous Items

Students who are motivated:

  • Attend class prepared and punctual
  • Take responsibility for your learning
  • Prepare for lessons
  • Attend all lessons and arrive on time
  • Set goals and aim to achieve them
  • Accept challenges
  • Take pride in themself  and their school
  • Participate in school activities
  • Participate without fear of failure

Students who are academic:

  • Complete all work with genuine and sustained effort
  • Work to the best of their ability
  • Prepare for set tasks
  • Seek and accept help when needed
  • Apply their skills and knowledge across all subjects
  • Meet due dates and produce original work
  • Use all available resources
  • Work successfully in groups or independently
  • Explore further learning opportunities

Students who are respectful:

  • Show respect for all members of the school community allowing others to learn.
  • Take responsibility for their behaviour
  • Allow others to participate without distraction or disruption
  • Recognise the rights of others
  • Demonstrate politeness
  • Take care of personal, school and other individual's property
  • Encourage each other
  • Acknowledge other people's work

  • Treat others fairly appreciating the diverse world we live in
