Have you ever wondered why some people can remember everything that they have ever done, and you cannot remember what you had for breakfast this morning? Have you ever thought about why different people react completely differently to the same situation and what is the connection between the brain and one’s behaviour? Have you ever wondered how forensic psychologists use profiling to catch serial killers?
If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then this is the course for you. The aim of Stage 5 psychology is to promote understanding and a critical awareness of the nature of human behaviour and the influence of biological, cognitive and socio-cultural factors on individuals and society.
Learning Psychology
Psychology provides the knowledge and understanding of human nature by asking scientific and philosophical questions and by undertaking studies into the fields of neuroscience, cognitive sciences, and social psychology.
Stage 5
Through these studies, students will appreciate how people perceive the world around them and how they respond to it, how human learning develops, and how they relate to others and function within society.
NB: As psychology is a NSW Department of Education approved elective course, students and parents/carers need to understand that the course will not be listed on a student’s Record of School Achievement (RoSA). This will not disadvantage your studies in any way.
