Technology Mandatory develops an understanding of design, design processes and the technologies that can be employed to produce creative and innovative solutions to identified needs. It enables students to select and use materials, tools and techniques in a responsible and safe manner.

Technology Mandatory is studied for 200 hours over 6 Design Focus areas during Stage 4, 2 in Year 7 and 4 in Year 8. These focus areas may include:
They will learn about the properties and applications of a range of materials and the tools and equipment that are used to shape, form and join these materials.
Students may choose to select a specific TAS course as an Elective Course to follow for either 100 or 200 hours during years 9 & 10 towards their Record Of School Achievement (ROSA). 100 hour courses will run for 2 semesters while 200 hour courses will run for 3 semesters. These courses are:
