In this course students discuss the nature of religion and beliefs paying special attention to the concept of spirituality.

In Year 12 students look at the significant stances around issues that challenge us as a society such as bioethics, environmental ethics and public practices of devotion. The students also look at the diversity of religious expression in Australia. Two unit students also look at religion and non-religion as well as religion and peace.
Learning studies of religion
Studies of religion promotes an understanding and critical awareness of the nature and significance of religion and the influence of beliefs systems and religious traditions on both individuals and society. This subject is suited to students who are interested in understanding the link between society and religion. This subject provides a safe and respectful environment to explore the role of religion in the life of individuals and social groups.

The study of studies of religion directly leads into studies at university in the fields of anthropology, cultural studies, gender studies and sociology.

Students completing this course will visit a range of religious buildings and hear from guest speakers.
