Students who choose legal studies will gain an introduction to the knowledge and skills required for work in the Australian legal system.

Through exploring statutory law, case law, media and other sources of information related to the legal system, students will gain a broad understanding of the legal institutions and processes in Australia and abroad.

Learning legal studies
This course provides students with opportunities to develop their knowledge and understanding of the nature and functions of law and law-making, the development of Australian and international legal systems, the Australian constitution and law reform.
Students investigate the key areas of law, justice and human rights through a variety of focus studies which consider how changes in societies influence law reform.

The skills learned in legal studies can be applied in a variety of contexts and be used in a multitude of professions beyond the legal system.
The skills learned in legal studies can also be applied in a tertiary context, for students wishing to complete humanities studies at university. Legal studies can also open up opportunities in a variety of government and non-government related employment.
