Industrial Technology - Metal

Quakers Hill High School has a fully equipped metal technology workshop specialising in metal and engineering based projects and skills. The workshop contains a diverse range of tools, machinery and associated equipment which is designed to meet the needs of a diverse range of students also taking into account current industry trends.

The course is largely practically based. A computer lab is utilised for theory work which is computer based to meet the needs of 21st century learners.

Learning in Industrial Technology ‘Metal’ enables students to develop relevant technical, vocational and interpersonal competencies suitable for training and future employment in manufacturing, engineering and related industries. It also provides skills, knowledge and experiences such as teamwork, communication and Workplace Health and Safety that are transferable to other industry areas.

100 hour course (1 year)

200 hour course (2 year)

  • Building on the skills from the 100 hour course, students gain increasing skills and confidence in working within the metal workshop.
  • Creating and designing challenging metal projects and working independently.

CAREERS: Mechanical/Industrial Engineer, Quality Assurance Officer, Welder, Boilermaker, CNC operator/programmer etc.
