Years 7 to 9 are important years where students build confidence, develop strong learning habits and explore new subjects. This page provides easy access to assessment information, online learning tools and helpful tips to support your learning and revision throughout Stage 4 and 5.

Starting high school is a big step, and it’s normal to feel excited or a little nervous. At Quakers Hill High School, we support all Year 7 students to feel confident, organised and ready to learn.

Subject selection
During Year 8, students choose the elective subjects they will study in Years 9 and 10. The subject selection process for Year 9 in 2026 includes:
- Subject selection information evening (Tuesday 5 August) – Learn about the Stage 5 pattern of study and the subject selection process. Students receive the Subject Selection Handbook at this event.
- Online subject selection survey (released Monday 25 August) – Students receive an access code via email to complete their selections. Survey closes: Friday 29 August at 11:59 pm.
- Confirmation letters (Term 3, Week 10) – Students receive a letter confirming their electives for 2026 and 2027.
- Return confirmation letters (by Term 4, Week 2) – Students indicate whether they are happy with their electives or wish to request an interview.
- Subject selection interviews (Term 4, Weeks 5-7) – For students who request a change of electives.

Stage 5 subject selection handbook
Students receive a handbook at the information evening. It outlines the subject selection process and lists all Stage 5 subjects offered at QHHS.
Year 9 marks the beginning of Stage 5. Students study a mix of core subjects and electives that help them explore their interests and build strong foundations for Years 10, 11 and 12.
