Our school enters teams, consisting of four players, into the Metropolitan Secondary Schools Chess Teams Competition run by The NSW Junior Chess League in the Junior Years 7-8 and Intermediate Years 9 and 10 sections.
The competition runs for 10 weeks during Term 2 every Friday afternoon. Our students travel to other state and private schools within the Metropolitan West Region to compete, as well as host games at our school.
The oppositions are highly competitive. Chess is a game of strategy; a battle of intellect, where there are two objectives:
- capture your opponent's king - checkmate
- with tactical moves avoid your king's capture!
All students receive a Certificate of Participation and the very best of players are acknowledged during our Service to the School Assembly.
